Brllnt Website
Client: Brllnt
My Role: Lead UI Designer
My company needed to refresh and rebrand. The previous website wasn’t cutting it in regards to leads or recruitment. It also didn’t have the creative brain power behind it to compete with other big agencies in DC.
This project allowed me to step out of the usual approach for web design and create something more unconventional.
Our company had adopted the motto, “Marketing is Design is Everything” and I wanted to push this concept as far as I could.
Adapting the Concept
The homepage and navigation of the site feed directly into the “Marketing is Design is Everything” philosophy. This phrase took on an infinite meaning and I pushed that theme.
The homepage contains a form field that is connected to the Giphy API. This allows the user to input any word and change the background to a related, randomized GIF. Truly making “Marketing is Design is Everything is Cheese” a reality we didn’t know we needed.
To continue on the concept of infinity, the primary way to navigate the site is along a straight line. The user moves along this line from Home to Work to Contactus and finally back to Home.
Responsive Design
The biggest challenge I faced in creating the website was making it responsive. Because of the navigation, I had to problem solve how to fit all of the content on one screen.
Everything was built to follow a strict a grid and size. The Work page is the best example as all of the featured pieces fit together in squares and rectangles.
This is where the fun begins
The About section of the site was one of the most fun aspects I got to design. I managed and directed a photo shoot of all our team members against a green screen. I took these photos and created GIFs that activate on rollover.
